Rangers youth coach Marc Spence has been charged with assault after a Scottish Cup match at Ibrox. Spence, 47, was held by police on the pitch moments after the final whistle of the Ibrox quarter-final clash on March 8 this year. Celtic had just beaten their Glasgow rivals on penalties. Television footage then captured a number of fans invading the pitch before a series of arrests were later made. Spence has now faced allegations of assault and breach of the peace following a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court. There are no further details of the alleged crimes at this time. Spence, of Douglas, Lanarkshire, made no plea. He was granted bail in the meantime. No further date has been made for his next appearance. Spence had coached youngsters prior to the alleged incidents at Ibrox. Glenbuck & Douglas Valley Football Academy, based in South Lanarkshire, shared a statement at the time on social media confirming he had left the club. It read: "After Sunday's incident, the coach is no longer part of the academy. We will not be commenting any further on this."
