Rangers star Nico Raskin is facing a transfer hurdle from Real Betis, who are holding off on a bid due to financial terms. The 25-year-old Belgium international has attracted interest from across Europe, with Atalanta and Bologna also keen on signing him this summer. Villarreal have been mentioned with a deal, but Betis appear to be ramping up a move for the midfielder. Boss Manuel Pellegrini is said to be an admirer of Raskin and has been "closely monitored" by the Spanish side for months. However, El Pespunte report that Betis are being put off making a move for the player as they attempt to put together a "compelling financial offer" to tempt the Light Blues this summer. It is also noted that the "financial terms" Rangers would demand could put off the Seville-based side, who are said to be on alert for other midfield options and "developments" in the market. As it stands, Raskin could be brought back into Derek McInnes' plans, having been named in the UEFA squad list for the Europa League qualifier against Jagiellonia Bialystok. That's despite not making the matchday squad for the Premiership opener against Dundee United after his extended break following the World Cup. Former Tottenham and Belgium star Toby Alderweireld reckons that a move to the Premier League should be considered as a next step. He has urged both Newcastle United and Aston Villa to add his fellow countryman to their summer shopping list - as he reckons Raskin could follow in the footsteps of Youri Tielemans in the English top flight. Alderweireld told Hajper: "I don’t think the biggest teams are looking at him but he could do very well at those underneath that level like Newcastle United or Aston Villa, especially with Youri Tielemans moving on. "Raskin is not the biggest guy but he has very strong legs and that’s what you need in the Premier League. "Are Aston Villa and Newcastle going to make a move for him? I don’t know how but I think he should definitely be on their lists." League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 2nd in Premiership, 69 pts, 19W-12D-2L from 33 games, recent form WLLLL.
