Rangers manager Danny Rohl's future is uncertain as Salzburg express interest in his services. The German coach has been in charge at Ibrox for just eight months. Rohl was drafted in to fix the mess left by Russell Martin back in October and he managed to get Gers back into a serious title race alongside Hearts and Celtic. However, a post-split collapse saw them banished to third place. Links to Wolfsburg were dismissed by the man himself earlier this summer, while Union Berlin were also credited with an interest. But now a switch to Austria could be on the cards according to reports in his homeland. Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing, and his departure would leave the Light Blues' American owners looking for their third manager since taking the reins a year ago. All while trying to build a squad able to compete at home and on the continent while avoiding the now familiar late season slump that fans are fed up of. Scott McDermott reckons Rangers would have known Danny Rohl was on Salzburg's shortlist before talks began. The Record Sport man notes the links between Red Bull and 49ers Enterprises - with the drinks giant holding a minority ownership stake in Leeds alongside the NFL giants. He told Hotline Live: 'I don't believe for a minute that Red Bull Salzburg have made this interest known in the last 48 hours. This is an organisation that have close links to Leeds United, and close links to Rangers via 49ers Enterprises. They must have known there was interest there, and must have known he was on a list of potential managerial candidates. The Liverpool legend and Salzburg kingmaker Klopp is pushing for Rohl - and reports in Germany suggest there is a 'clear' reason. The footballing philosophy of Rohl and his proven track record of developing young talent are said to have caught the German's attention. It is said by Goal 'these attributes are considered essential for the Salzburg role.' RB Salzburg will first have to agree compensation with Rangers before talks can commence with Danny Rohl. And Sky Sports are reporting they're still some way away from that – and have other options on the table. We understand Rohl isn't pushing for an exit yet with Salzburg still yet to make a firm move to pry the German away. Sky report that Rangers' compensation expectations are the first hurdle and Salzburg are yet to meet it. There is no release clause in Rohl's contract so should Rangers decide to fight to keep their boss, they can name their price – he is under contract until at least 2028. Salzburg's first formal offer could decide how talks progress from here.
