Kilmarnock have confirmed the arrival of 32-year-old goalkeeper Dave Richards on a short-term deal until January 2027. The Welshman will join their squad preparing for a trip to face Rangers at Ibrox next Saturday.

Kilmarnock Football Club said: "Kilmarnock Football Club is pleased to confirm the arrival of Dave Richards, pending Scottish FA approval." The move provides cover for the injured Max Stryjek, who is expected to be sidelined long-term with a knee issue.

Richards, a free agent since leaving Dundee United in the summer, turned down a new contract at Tannadice to make the move to Rugby Park. He has kept himself fit by training with Port Vale this season and has previous Premiership experience with St Johnstone and Dundee United after starting his career in the English Football League with Cardiff City.

He is expected to go straight into the squad for the visit to Glasgow, where he will wear the number 31 shirt. Rangers, who sit second in the Premiership on 16 points, are on a five-game winning run ahead of the fixture.

Calum Ferrie made his league debut for Kilmarnock in their recent draw with Hearts. The club, currently bottom of the table, will hope Richards' experience can help them improve their form. The match is scheduled for October 10th.
