Rangers' transfer miss rues Aiden McGeady
Aiden McGeady is adamant Celtic should have tried to sign Dan Neil before he went to Rangers. The former Republic of Ireland star played alongside Neil for four years at Sunderland and thinks the midfielder is better than his current club.
What happened?
McGeady revealed he gave his old Sunderland teammate stick for opting to join the Light Blues. Neil has been handed the number six shirt at Ibrox and made his official debut as a second half substitute in Friday's 1-1 draw away to Dundee United.
Why it matters for Rangers
Gers tracked the midfielder back in January prior to his move to Ipswich Town but acted quickly to snap the 24-year-old up on a free transfer after his contract at Portman Road was ripped up. Neil has been a key player for Rangers this season, helping the team to a 2-5 win over Falkirk on May 16th.
What comes next?
Rangers are currently 1 point behind leaders Heart Of Midlothian in the title race. The team has scored 66 goals this season and conceded 31, with a goal difference of +35. They are on a 2-game winning run, with a recent form of 2W-0D-3L (WWLLL).
Aiden McGeady's thoughts on Dan Neil
McGeady gave a rousing appraisal of his former teammate on GO Radio, saying: "Dan Neil is a very, very focused individual and is a very, very good trainer who is totally dedicated to his craft. Technically, he's very, very good. He's clever and very good at finding passes, space and doesn't over-complicate the game."
Rangers' current form
Rangers are currently 2nd in the Premiership, with 69 points from 33 games. They have a recent form of 2W-0D-3L (WWLLL) and are on a 2-game winning run. Their last result was a 2-5 win over Falkirk on May 16th.
