Rangers have been linked with Bologna captain Lewis Ferguson, who has now revealed his stance on a potential move to Ibrox. The Scotland international has been a long-term target for the Gers, and his comments will be music to the ears of fans at Ibrox.
Ferguson has been in fine form for Bologna, and his move to Italy came as a surprise to many after four years as a regular with Aberdeen. He has now told Corriere dello Sport that he has no intention of leaving Bologna, but his dream to feature at Ibrox has not been halted.
"They're the club in my heart and I've always said that I intend to play for Rangers. One day, although I still don't know when, it will definitely happen if I get the opportunity," Ferguson said.
Rangers have already welcomed 10 fresh faces to Ibrox this summer, with midfielder Vanja Dragojevic, Cameron Devlin, and Dan Neil joining the club. The Gers are looking to strengthen their midfield, and Ferguson's comments will only increase the speculation surrounding a potential move.
Ferguson's current contract with Bologna runs until the summer of 2028, and there are plenty of opportunities for Ibrox to welcome him in the future. The question among Light Blues fans will be when, and whether Rangers will be able to make a cut-price transfer next summer or wait until 2028 when his current deal expires.
Rangers are currently 1 point behind leaders Heart Of Midlothian in the title race, and have scored 66 goals this season, conceding 31. They are on a 2-game winning run, with their last result being a 5-2 win over Falkirk on May 16.
League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 2nd in Premiership, 69 pts, 19W-12D-2L from 33 games, recent form WLLLL.
