Rangers Football Club has officially announced the signing of striker Lawrence Shankland on a two-year deal, with an option for an additional year. The Scotland international will be the first addition of the summer transfer window, joining from Heart of Midlothian once it opens on 15 June. Shankland has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in Scotland, having scored 88 goals in 171 appearances during his time in Edinburgh. As the captain of Hearts in recent seasons, he brings a wealth of experience to Rangers. Shankland began his career with Queen’s Park and had a spell at Aberdeen, along with various loan moves. His impressive goalscoring records at Ayr United and Dundee United caught the attention of many, leading to his move to Hearts. He also spent a season in the Belgian Pro League with Beerschot before returning to Scotland. As a regular for the Scotland National Team, Shankland is set to participate in the upcoming World Cup this summer. In his first comments as a Rangers player, Shankland expressed his excitement, stating, "I am delighted to be here and to have this opportunity. Rangers is my boyhood club, and it has always been a dream to play here." He emphasized his commitment to helping the club return to winning silverware more regularly. Head coach Danny Röhl shared his enthusiasm about the signing, highlighting Shankland's proven quality and leadership. He noted that the striker understands the demands of playing for Rangers and believes his character will be a significant asset to the team. Röhl also wished Shankland well for the World Cup and looks forward to welcoming him back to Glasgow for pre-season training.
