Rangers are still looking to strengthen their squad this summer, and Kris Boyd has urged the club to focus on quality over quantity. The ex-Ibrox striker believes the club should target players who can make an immediate impact in the starting XI, particularly on the wings and at right-back.

What's the problem?

Boyd sees a lack of creativity in the final third as a major issue, and believes the wide area is a problem for Rangers. He said: "There is no doubt that the wide area is a problem for Rangers. The creativity at the top end of the pitch is something that Rangers are severely lacking in right now."

Why it matters for Rangers

Rangers are reportedly close to a £7million deal for PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech, but Boyd believes the club should be focusing on strengthening the starting XI. He said: "For me, it has to be three or five signings that go into the starting lineup." Boyd also believes the squad is currently too large, with many players being left out on match days.

What comes next?

Rangers are next in action on December 26th, when they travel to Kilmarnock. The Gers are currently 9th in the Premiership, with 1 point from 2 games, and are 5 points behind leaders Celtic. They have also been linked with Aston Villa's Kosta Nedeljkovic, who could provide a solution at right-back.

League standing: 9th in Premiership, 1 pts, 0W-1D-1L from 2 games, recent form LD.

Goals this season: 2 scored, 3 conceded (-1 goal difference).

Title race: 5 points behind leaders Celtic.

Next fixture: vs Kilmarnock (away, 2026-12-26) (12th in the table).

Currently sidelined: Ben Godfrey, José Cifuentes, Youssef Chermiti.

With Rangers' next fixture just around the corner, the pressure is on the Gers to strengthen their squad and push for a top-six finish. Will they be able to bring in the quality signings they need to make a push for the title?
