Rangers Injury Updates: DeGrom, Eovaldi, and Leiter's Recovery Progress
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker has provided updates on the team's injured players ahead of their next game. The team's rotation is currently dealing with injuries to pitchers Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi.
DeGrom, who suffered tricep tightness, will play catch before Sunday's game against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park. His next scheduled start is Wednesday vs. the Washington Nationals at Globe Life Field. The team could manipulate their rotation to give him additional time if needed.
Eovaldi, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with posterior elbow inflammation, has made minor strides. The range of motion in his elbow has improved and some of the swelling has gone down, but it's unclear when he'll be able to play catch again. He's eligible to return from the injured list Aug. 25, if healthy by then.
Leiter, who underwent ankle surgery recovery, pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. His four-seam fastball ran 96-97 mph, and he felt good after the game. The main thing is he felt good, Schumaker said.
