What happened?
Derek McInnes claims Rangers beat themselves in Euro misfire as he fumes over defensive gaffes. Rangers lost 2-1 to Jagiellonia in the second-leg of their Europa League tie.
Why it matters for Rangers
The defeat leaves Rangers 1 point behind leaders Heart of Midlothian in the title race. Rangers are currently second in the Premiership, 69 points from 33 games, with 19 wins, 12 draws, and 2 losses.
What comes next?
McInnes is confident that Rangers can overturn the deficit in the second-leg, but warned his players to cut out defensive slackness. The manager said: "The tie is there to be won next week. The atmosphere was brilliant here tonight. Our fans made a huge effort to get behind us and it's our turn to really turn up the volume at Ibrox and make it a big night for us.
"But we can't give encouragement to any team, never mind Jagiellonia with their quality, by not doing the right things. There's no pleasure in that for us tonight. We lost two goals that were clearly mistakes. I'm not going to watch us all season give up so many chances. We have beat ourselves tonight and I've said that to the players.
"We can't lose the ball on the edge of their box and have it end up with a chance for them. There are a lot of bad habits carrying on from last season. That's down to talking, organisation and closing the back door before the fire becomes bigger. It's about a loss of concentration. Too often, we were slow on the uptake and didn't do our defensive work well enough.
Recent form
Rangers have cooled their interest in Frosinone wide man Fares Ghedjemis but McInnes hopes to further strengthen his squad with the arrival of PSV winger Couhaib Driouech and others before the second-leg. The team has been on a 2-game winning run, but recent form has been inconsistent, with two wins, no draws, and three losses in their last five games.
Currently sidelined
José Cifuentes is currently sidelined due to injury.
Goals this season
Rangers have scored 66 goals this season, with 31 conceded, resulting in a +35 goal difference.
