Rangers have backed themselves into a corner with their desire to target more players with proven Scottish Premiership experience.
What happened?
Keith Wyness, former Aberdeen chief executive, believes that Rangers cannot totally move away from their need to explore obscure European markets. Andrew Cavenagh and the recruitment team have committed to trying to build a core of Scottish and Premiership talent in the squad, but Wyness has warned that this could have financial impacts.
Why it matters for Rangers
Rangers are closing in on the signing of Ben Godfrey, with an agreement said by sources to be in place, having already added Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie to their squad this summer. They are also being heavily linked with Scotland international Lewis Ferguson, as they look to rebuild their group for Derek McInnes.
